Situated south of Doha in the coastal city of Al Wakrah, the first match played at the Al Janoub Stadium was the final of the 2019 Amir Cup between Al Sadd and Al Duhail, but was also used for the 2020 AFC Champions League final between Iranian side Persepolis and Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea. It hosted 6 matches during the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 too. The capacity of the stadium will be trimmed by half after the World Cup, and is part of broad sports complex containing shops, restaurants and horse trails.
