Lusail, a new state-of-the-art metropolis found around 20km north of Doha, will host the biggest stadium in the tournament, and the one where the World Cup final will be held. Despite originally being planned to open in 2020, the flagship venue for this winter’s tournament was delayed by over a year. Following the end of the tournament, the plan is to downsize the stadium and convert it into a multi-purpose community hub, with most of the seats due to be donated.
